Organized Travel: Keeping Important Documents and Papers Safely Stored

Friday, November 20th, 2009

boardingpassholderWith the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, many Americans are getting ready to take a long road trip to meet up with extended family.  There are also many who travel very long distances so will fly, instead of driving.  Traveling by air adds another layer of planning and preparing for your trip.  When traveling by air, it’s more important to be organized when planning your trip, because you are unable to pack as much belongings as when you’re driving.  Another reason why air travelers need to be more organized is because they are often carrying money or travelers checks, airline tickets, passports and other valuable items that could result in devastating consequences if lost or stolen.

In general, most airline travelers prefer to carry their jewelry, extra cash and other valuables with them on the airplane for safekeeping, but if the items are not stored properly, they can easily get lost.  Less frequent air travelers tend to be a bit distracted at the airport due to being in an unusual environment, so if their items are not stored and organized properly, they may later learn that something valuable fell out of their bag, or worse, may have been stolen.  Sometimes, items will fall out a bag while searching for something else that you’re having trouble locating.

Choosing the Right Computer Laptop Bag for a Worry-Free and Organized Trip

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Frequent business travelers are generally aware of what to expect when travelling for business and are usually prepared and organized and able to keep up with the ever changing airport rules and regulations.  They understand that anything that might go wrong could make or break their trip and they could miss that important meeting.  So they certainly don’t want to be worrying about their suitcase or carry-on bag falling apart.

Anyone who travels frequently by air should pay special attention to the quality of travel bags they use for their trips.  If you accidentally drop your computer laptop, chances are it won’t break or crack under pressure if it’s stored in a protective case or bag.  It’s not a good idea to just slip your laptop inside a regular bag with all your other belongings.  If you decide to place it inside another bag, insert it into a computer laptop sleeve first for extra protection.

Laptop bags have come a long way.  At one time, the styles and designs were basic and tended to only focus on what a businessman would want. There are now laptop bags for everyone, including businesswomen, busy moms and students.  You also don’t have to sacrifice style for quality.

Generally, there are 4 types of computer laptop bags: sleeve, shoulder bag, rolling and backpack.  Here are a few to consider from Home Storage Warehouse

Getting Organized for a Holiday Road Trip

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008
Will you be taking a road trip to visit family members during the holidays? Getting ready for the holidays can be stressful enough, without the added stress of a road trip. When traveling during the holiday season, it’s even more important to be organized, so that you’re not running around at the last minute.   Here are a few basic tips to get ready, be organized and be on time!
• Write a list of everything that needs to be done before you leave, including gift buying, bills to pay, snacks to bring for the road, etc.

• Arrange for the post office to hold your mail and temporarily stop newspaper deliveries for the duration of your absence, or ask a trusted friend or neighbor to pick up your mail and newspapers.

• Get organized and purchase all holiday gifts early so that you can focus on preparing for your trip during the week of your departure.
• Purchase sample sizes of toiletries you regularly use, or pick up small plastic refill bottles to use for travelling and overnight stays.
• Check your tires to make sure they are properly rotated and inflated and service your car, if necessary.
• Pick up maps and plan your route at least a few days before your trip, so that you can estimate your time of arrival.  Allow extra time for breaks on route.

Finally, try to pack light. More weight in your car results in more gas because it has to work extra hard. Travel organizers can help and are designed to help you to pack less and stay organized.

Check out some travel organizers here.
